EDUCATION & OUTREACH WORK

Cambrian Brass has been running educational workshops and masterclasses for 25 years now throughout the UK and abroad. We’ve worked in military music schools too and have toured extensively in the Middle East, Finland, Spain and Singapore.

We can run workshops as a quintet or, for a more cost-effective solution, a duo, trio or quartet; alternatively, all members have extensive teaching experience and are able to run solo workshops too.

We offer all types of educational experiences: from one-hour sessions to a full day – and longer-term projects as well which can be built into the music curriculum.

One-hour session

Our most popular and affordable service is the one-hour session. This will be an informal presentation at your school or college when we perform a variety of music, show how our instruments work and involve the audience in a few of the pieces we perform.

If you’d prefer to break the session up into two, we could do half an hour with two separate groups. This allows more people to experience the presentation at no extra cost.

Full day session

If you have the time, we also offer a full day of music tuition, workshops and performance. This generally includes two sessions at your school, with you deciding the format. As an example, we could perform two separate sessions as described above, or we could do one of these sessions in the morning followed by a recital in the afternoon.

Long-term projects

Some schools and colleges like to hire us on a longer-term basis. In the past we’ve sent out different combinations of players over a period of several weeks, performing to different classes each week and ending with a concert for everyone to enjoy. We’ve found this a more affordable and fun way to involve a greater number of people on a more personal basis.

Or we could arrange a programme where two or three of us come in on a weekly basis working on a composition or other similar project over a period of weeks, finishing with a public performance at the end.
